What is Spectrum’s role
in your pet’s referral?
A referral brings additional imaging expertise into your pet’s existing care team.
Spectrum works with veterinary practices to perform the requested imaging. Your own veterinarian knows the history, explains why the examination is needed and discusses the findings and next steps with you.

Can I book directly?
Begin with your veterinarian. Spectrum’s veterinary imaging is referral based, and your practice arranges the examination through the professional referral portal.
Where do I take my pet?
The appointment location is confirmed for your referral. Spectrum works through on-site and regional service arrangements, so check with the referring practice before travelling.
Should I change food or medication?
Follow the instructions given by your veterinary team for your pet and examination. Ask them before changing food, water or medication.
Will my pet need sedation?
Your veterinarian or the attending team will discuss handling and any sedation arrangements appropriate to your pet. Do not assume the same preparation applies to every examination.
Who explains the results?
The study is interpreted and reported by a specialist in that discipline: an IVUSS-certified veterinarian or board-certified radiologist for abdominal studies, and a board-certified cardiologist for the heart. Your referring veterinarian then discusses the findings in the context of your pet’s health.
What if my pet gets worse before the appointment?
Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital. Do not wait for a website or email response for urgent care.
